Frameplan changelog

Frameplan is maintained as a careful local tool. This log tracks shipped improvements that make wall marks easier to trust, read, and use.

Latest update: . Clearer mark verification.

August 2026

  1. Clearer mark verification

Frameplan now separates example marks, ready marks, and detailed proof more clearly before you mark the wall.

    • Polish: Example output now says it is only a sample until real measurements replace it, so copy and print actions set the right expectation.
    • Polish: Detailed measurements are grouped by frame position and wall marks, with a short verification checklist before drilling.
    • Polish: Mobile proof rows now have calmer spacing and fewer divider lines before the ready-to-mark actions.
  2. Motion tuned to each interaction

Frameplan’s panels, dropdowns, tooltips, tabs, and disclosure controls now move with a more consistent rhythm.

    • Polish: Opening motions now arrive with enough time to orient, while closing motions clear the workspace more quickly.
    • Polish: Tooltips now wait briefly for pointer intent, and tabs, disclosure icons, and repeated results use shared motion timing.
  3. A more consistent icon set

Frameplan now uses one Geist-style icon family throughout the workspace for a calmer, more consistent interface.

    • Polish: Updated navigation, measurement, status, editing, theme, shopping, and plan-action symbols while preserving their existing labels and behavior.
    • Foundation: Oversized measurement drafts and saved plans now stop at a safe limit with inline guidance instead of disrupting the wall preview.
    • Foundation: Sample wall marks can no longer be copied until real measurements make the plan ready.
    • Polish: Starter layouts lead with three common choices, sample output points directly to measurement editing, saved-plan recovery accurately describes wall or furniture alignment, and secondary actions use quieter dividers.
  4. Supporting Frameplan

Frameplan now offers a quiet way to help cover hosting and continued development after using the planner.

    • Polish: Added a clearly labeled footer link that opens Ko-fi separately without interrupting the active plan.
    • Privacy: Support analytics record only the footer location and Ko-fi destination, never measurements or plan details.
  5. Support measurement guidance

Frameplan now explains how to measure each frame's real support point before calculating wall marks.

    • Polish: Added compact guidance for picture wire, single-point hardware, two shared-height hooks, and cleats directly beside each frame's hanging-method measurements.

July 2026

  1. Steadier measurement choices

Frameplan’s segmented measurement choices now stay visually steady on mobile while preserving keyboard focus.

    • Polish: Reworked placement, alignment, furniture, and frame support choices as segmented radio controls so selected options behave consistently across the Measurements sheet.
    • Polish: Stopped mobile placement and vertical-alignment choices from retaining touch focus paint or forcing scroll corrections that made selected buttons look like they shifted.
  2. Plan actions footer

Frameplan now keeps copy, print, save status, and restore-example actions together near ready wall marks.

    • Polish: Replaced the print-only results panel with a compact wall-mark handoff for copying all marks, printing the marking sheet, checking save status, and restoring the example after confirmation.
    • Foundation: Moved full-plan wall-mark copy into a reusable formatter so future share links and richer saved-plan actions can build on the same safe output.
  3. Frame size presets

Frameplan now lets each frame start from common portrait and landscape outside sizes.

    • Polish: Added compact frame-size shortcuts for 8×10, 11×14, 12×16, 16×20, 18×24, and 24×36 frames in both portrait and landscape orientations.
    • Polish: Preset choices fill only frame width and height, so names, hanging method, hardware measurements, and saved-plan data stay under the user’s control.
  4. Mark calculation guide

Frameplan now explains how ready wall marks are calculated without leaving the results.

    • Polish: Added a compact calculation note beside ready wall marks that explains the wall’s left edge, the floor, alignment mode, and support-measurement logic.
    • Polish: Above-furniture results now include a plain-language reminder that the lowest frame edge comes from furniture top plus the gap.
  5. Wall preview precision guides

Frameplan’s wall preview now makes the measuring scale and active wall mark easier to trace.

    • Polish: Added quiet wall scale ticks to the full preview so the left edge, floor, and wall dimensions read more like a measuring surface.
    • Polish: Added focused projection guides from the current support mark back to the wall’s left edge and floor, with matching accessible preview copy.
    • Polish: Shortened the wall preview guidance so the measuring origin, shared alignment line, and support marks are easier to scan before marking.
  6. Common setup presets

Frameplan now offers editable starter plans for common wall and above-furniture layouts.

    • Major: Added distilled setup starters for a single frame, row, grid, and above-furniture layout, with extra row and grid variations tucked behind More starter layouts.
    • Polish: Preset plans use small layout diagrams, specific action labels, and named confirmation before replacing real measurements.
    • Polish: Refined the Best Starters chooser into compact visual cards so common setup options are easier to scan without hiding any primary choice.
    • Polish: Flattened the common setup chooser inside the results area so starter layouts sit on the same surface instead of another nested panel.
    • Privacy: Preset analytics record only the selected preset ID and never include measurements or plan details.
  7. Optional shopping link polish

Frameplan’s optional shopping links are now easier to scan across desktop and mobile layouts.

    • Polish: Shortened selected-product actions to View product and aligned shopping actions with their external-link icons.
    • Polish: Kept recommended-tool actions on one line at typical mobile widths while allowing large-text reflow and preserving flexible frame-search labels.
  8. Motion polish

Frameplan’s mobile sheet and preview feedback now move more quickly and calmly during measurement edits.

    • Polish: Tuned the mobile Measurements sheet to use cleaner transform-and-opacity motion with faster open and close timing.
    • Polish: Reduced decorative preview pulses and tightened shared control transitions so measurement feedback feels steadier.
  9. Wall preview guidance

Frameplan’s wall preview now makes the measuring origin, support marks, and furniture spacing easier to understand before marking the wall.

    • Polish: Added left-edge and floor cues, clearer support-mark guidance, and active-frame labels so the preview connects more directly to the mark cards.
    • Polish: Added a furniture gap marker and simplified the mobile example thumbnail so the preview reads better in small spaces.
  10. Mobile Measurements sheet

On phones, Frameplan now keeps results in view while measurements open in a focused bottom sheet.

    • Polish: Measurement editing now opens in a near full-height sheet with live result updates and a clear Done action to return to the wall marks.
    • Polish: Simplified the mobile bottom bar to one Enter your measurements action and removed the duplicate example-header button.
  11. Above-furniture placement

Frameplan can now position a frame group from measured furniture bounds and turn that relationship into exact wall marks.

    • Major: Added Sofa, Console, Headboard, Sideboard, Desk, and Other starting points with editable furniture height and gap measurements.
    • Major: Added centered or measured furniture placement that keeps frame groups aligned and reports every final mark from the wall’s left edge and floor.
    • Polish: Added a furniture-aware wall preview, ready-result verification summary, saved-plan recovery, and printable furniture reference.
    • Polish: Incomplete furniture plans now name the next required measurement, show a safe measurement guide before wall marks appear, and keep furniture setup grouped as one anchor.
  12. Printable wall marking sheets

Frameplan now gives ready, user-owned plans a clean browser-print sheet for marking the wall away from the screen.

    • Major: Added a Print action after wall-mark cards for plans that are ready and no longer untouched examples.
    • Major: Added a text-first marking sheet with wall size, alignment summary, support marks, frame edges, and a before-you-mark checklist.
    • Polish: Polished the print handoff with clearer sheet affordance, practical disabled-state guidance, mobile-first button layout, and a non-interactive contents checklist.
  13. Hanging methods and alignment upgrades

Frameplan now handles more real frame hardware and keeps wall marks clearer when plans use top alignment.

    • Major: Added Single Hook, Two Hooks, and Cleat methods so support points match the hardware on each frame.
    • Major: Added top-height alignment with a first-frame anchor for rows that should share the same top edge.
    • Polish: Restored scannable wall-mark cards and tightened mobile mark values for easier checking at the wall.
  14. Usability and measurement flow

Measurement entry became steadier on phones, easier to read, and more explicit about local, privacy-bounded use.

    • Major: Added copy actions for wall marks, plus first-run guidance for entering real wall and frame measurements.
    • Polish: Added light and dark themes and kept focused mobile fields anchored while results update.
    • Privacy: Limited analytics so measurements, frame names, saved plans, copied text, searches, and products are not captured.
  15. Saved plans and result polish

Frameplan began preserving local browser work and made finished wall-mark instructions easier to act on.

    • Major: Added local saved-plan recovery and full-plan unit conversion across wall, layout, frame, and support measurements.
    • Polish: Grouped detailed measurements behind one disclosure so exact wall marks stay prominent.
    • Polish: Improved add-frame context, output hierarchy, optional supply links, and ownership credit.
  16. MVP and launch foundation

The first Frameplan release shipped the measuring model, visual preview, and static site foundation.

    • Foundation: Added pure geometry for floor-based frame positions and support marks measured from the wall's left edge.
    • Major: Added measurement editors, layout settings, frame controls, and an SVG wall preview.
    • Foundation: Added the adaptive workspace, homeowner guide, prerendering, SEO metadata, and accessibility hardening.
